CLASSROOM & RANGE SAFETY POLICY

CLASSROOM & RANGE SAFETY POLICY
These rules are non-negotiable and are in place to protect every student, instructor, and staff member while ensuring a safe, professional learning environment. Failure to follow them will result in immediate dismissal with no refund and may lead to a permanent ban from future classes or legal consequences. Each student must sign a copy upon entering the classroom.
NO LIVE AMMUNITION IN CLASSROOMS — EVER
No live ammunition is permitted in the classroom at any time. This includes ammo stored in a bag, pocket, holster, or firearm — whether carried concealed or openly. Arriving with live ammunition will result in immediate dismissal and possible ban. If you see live ammo, report it to the Instructor, Chief Range Safety Officer (CRSO), or Range Safety Officer (RSO) immediately.
RANGE CONDITION REQUIREMENTS
All firearms must be unloaded before entering or leaving the firing area. Magazines must be removed and remain empty unless instructed by an Instructor, CRSO, or RSO. Slides must be locked open on semi-automatics; revolvers must have cylinders open. No firearm may be handled unless directed by an Instructor, CRSO, or RSO.
FIRING LINE & SAFETY LINE BEHAVIOR
Only active shooters may be on the firing line. Everyone else must remain behind the safety line and may not touch firearms or ammunition. Do not cross forward of the safety line unless instructed by staff. Remain on the line until an Instructor, CRSO, or RSO calls “Clear.” When the range is “hot,” obey all commands immediately.
RANGE COMMANDS — OBEY IMMEDIATELY
Commands must be obeyed the instant they are given:
- “LOAD / LOAD AND MAKE READY” — load only when instructed.
- “FIRE / COMMENCE FIRING” — begin shooting.
- “CEASE FIRE” — stop immediately, finger off the trigger, muzzle downrange.
- “ALL CLEAR” — no one may go downrange until this command is given.
NO ONE GOES DOWNRANGE WITHOUT “ALL CLEAR”
At no time may anyone go downrange (to targets or berms) without an official “ALL CLEAR” from the Instructor or CRSO. Unauthorized movement downrange is a serious safety violation and will result in dismissal and possible legal action.
TRANSPORT, STORAGE & ARRIVAL
Transport all firearms unloaded and secured in a case. Ammunition must be stored separately and never brought into the classroom. Arrive on time for the mandatory safety brief. Late arrivals may be denied participation.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) & ATTIRE
Eye and ear protection are mandatory for everyone in the firing area. Wear closed-toe shoes and appropriate range clothing. Tie back long hair and avoid loose or hanging items.
MINORS, GUARDIANS & MEDICAL CONDITIONS
Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and have a signed waiver. Disclose any medical conditions or medications that may affect your ability to train safely. Anyone under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or impairing medication will be removed immediately.
SAFETY BRIEF & ACKNOWLEDGMENT
Attendance at the mandatory safety brief is required to participate. All students must sign a Safety Acknowledgment and Waiver before handling firearms. The Instructor or RSO will verify that all firearms are unloaded, slides open, and magazines removed before training begins.
VIOLATIONS & CONSEQUENCES
Violations of these safety rules will result in: Immediate dismissal with no refund. Possible report to law enforcement. Permanent ban from future classes. Civil or criminal liability if others are endangered.
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
Instructors and RSOs are trained in first aid and CPR and will call emergency services if necessary. Report all injuries, accidents, or near-misses immediately to staff.
RANGE ETIQUETTE & PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR
Follow all directions promptly and respectfully. Keep conversations quiet and avoid distractions on the range. Clean up only when instructed and respect shared equipment.
CHECKLIST — BEFORE CLASS
Firearm unloaded, magazine removed, slide or cylinder open. No ammunition in the classroom. Eye and ear protection ready. Signed waiver and valid ID. No alcohol or impairing substances.
FINAL NOTE
These are serious safety policies designed to protect everyone and ensure a safe, professional learning environment. They will be strictly enforced — because every person’s safety matters. Our goal is that each student leaves more confident, knowledgeable, and safe than when they arrived.
